Maybe you’re not ready for the speed test, but in this hour you will gain tools to incorporate into daily practice, whether it’s prepping 10 minutes prior to a deposition, getting ready for that marathon trial, or taking a test. We will show you how to get those fingers moving using an online metronome. This power hour will benefit the seasoned reporter and the newbie.Karen Friedlander’s Power Hour Objectives

- Attendees will learn new briefs during the steno swap
- Attendees will learn a new technique to better memorize briefs and phrases
- Attendees will learn new ways to job prep, warm up, gain finger speed, and avoid hesitation
Karen Friedlander learned how to use the metronome to speed build when she was in Popkin School of Court Reporting in the 80’s. Fast forward to 2012, she found out she lost the RPR and RMR due to not enough CEUs. To regain these certifications she went back to basics and incorporated the metronome in her daily practice so she could pass these tests once again. She passed all legs at one sitting and attributes this to working with the metronome. It's not just a great tool, but there’s science behind it!Speaking with a friend whose son is on the autism spectrum, she was told of how Interactive Metronome Therapy had made a huge difference in his learning and behavior. Now, Karen doesn’t claim to be an expert on Interactive Metronome Therapy, but found out these facts about it:Science shows that rhythm and timing is a baseline brain function. A unique therapy called Interactive Metronome training helps reset the timing in the brain at the millisecond level.
