Mindie Baab, CSR, has been a court reporter for over 31 years, and she currently works for the 12th Judicial District in the State of Oklahoma.  She graduated from the Tulsa School of Court Reporting in 1990.  After working the juvenile docket for one of her judges for over a decade, watching frightened children testify, she was motivated to make a difference.  In 2014, Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin signed a new statute that allowed therapy dogs into government facilities.  In 2014, Mindie purchased Jerzy, a hypoallergenic Aussiepoo, and Mindie even paid for the two-year therapy program herself.  The rest is history!  When Mindie and Jerzy aren't working in the courthouse, they are visiting schools, airports, hospitals, politicians, and doing interviews on the news to spread awareness.

Session Description: Hi, doods & doodles! My name is Jerzy Girl. I'm also known as The Court Dog!  I am an Aussiedoodle, and I live in Oklahoma.  I go to one of the courthouses in Rogers, Mayes, & Craig Counties nearly every day.  My mom, Mindie Baab, is an amazing court reporter.   When my mom isn't on the record, she is taking me to comfort children who are in scary and sad situations like when they have to talk to investigators, lawyers, judges, or even a jury.  I'm a furry security blanket, and I comfort children by putting my fuzzy paw around them or kissing their tears away.

Learning Objectives: In this one-hour seminar, you'll learn:
1.  How I comfort children, feeling their blood pressure and heart rate
2.  How my mom, a 30-year court reporter, decided she wanted to help comfort children
3.  All about the rigorous two-year training program I went through to become a therapy dog
